If you were wondering as to how Far Cry 5 is going to perform on Microsoft’s anticipated console, the Xbox One X, we have some bad news for you: the developers haven’t even received an Xbox One X developer kit yet.
Jason Stettner from Gamerheadquarters spoke to a developer for Far Cry 5 at E3 who had informed him that the team actually hadn’t even received a Xbox One X dev kit – while the release is still 8 months away, this is still considerably worrying news for Xbox One players, especially considering that Far Cry 5 developers noted that the game has been heavily optimized for Sony’s consoles, with no mention of strong optimisation for the Xbox One.
“First off, the developer mentioned that the game was heavily optimized for Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro at this point.”, Stettener continued, “I was surprised to hear that they hadn’t received Xbox One X dev kits yet and while it’s approximately eight months away many other smaller developers gave gotten their hands on the 4K Xbox. There’s still a fair amount of time for it be optimized there, I was just surprised that the Far Cry 5 team hasn’t even gotten to touch it yet or get an idea of what power it has. There’s also the marketing deal with Playstation to keep in mind, but the game is listed as releasing on Xbox One X, Xbox One, PC, PS4, PS4 Pro within the Ubisoft press site”
It seems like Microsoft isn’t doing a very good job at marketing their exalted console, let hope we hear some better news regarding Xbox One X optimisation in the coming months.
