Bethesda Will Not Distribute Early Review Copies For Prey

April 28, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

Reviewers will have to wait until May 5th.

With Prey’s release right around the corner, the Bethesda’s hired PR company has reminded the public of Bethesda’s decision, that it will not be distributing any early review codes for reviewers.

This policy was officially announced last year, in between two Bethesda releases, Doom and Dishonored 2. It created a lot of controversy among the “pro-consumer” crowd, who saw it as a dodgy attempt to mislead consumers as to their game’s quality. That being said, a lack of early review copies doesn’t necessarily equate to low quality. Both Doom and Dishonored 2 were game of the year candidates, appearing on more than 40 year-end lists.

While Dishonored 2’s release was a success on console, the PC port ended up a complete disaster – luckily there is a demo for Prey currently available on all platforms so PC players can get a taste of what to expect now.

Morgan Yu is about to have a very bad day. Aliens have escaped containment, dead bodies now litter the hallways of the Talos I space station, survivors are huddled together for safety, and the Typhon aliens are threatening to destroy everything you hold dear.

As Morgan, you’ll have to fight the invasion in order to save humanity. But it all begins with what should have been a typical first day on the job for Morgan. And now you can experience the game’s thrilling first hour in the console-exclusive demo for Prey. But first check out the latest trailer showing Prey in action.

Prey will release on May 5, 2017, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
