Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series, is expected to shed light on his latest project next year. In an interview with 4Gamer, Sakaguchi kept things vague, saying he has plans to release something new and to “stay tuned”.
Since founding Mistwalker, Sakaguchi went on to develop games like The Last Story and Terra Battle, the latter proving to be a very successful mobile RPG for his company after being downloaded over 2 million times on the App Store and Google Play Store.
Little is known about whether Sakaguchi’s unannounced game refers to Mistwalker’s solo project, the collaboration with Bravely Default developer Silicon Studio (first mentioned in February), or something new entirely. We also know Sakaguchi revealed plans on opening up another studio, which he is thinking of naming ‘Dawnwalker’.
Sakaguchi’s Final Fantasy series will be celebrating a 30 year anniversary on January 31, 2017. During the event, many fans are expecting the release of a Final Fantasy Collection including games I – IX.
