Sci-Fi Puzzle Game ‘Obduction’ Releases With VR Support

March 22, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Bask in the otherworldly beauty of a strange place, whose secrets unfold based on the choices you make.

It was last month when Cyan, the development team behind Myst announced that their kickstarter-funded sci-fi adventure Obduction would be reborn on Oculus Rift plus HTC Vive. Today, the award winning game is finally available as both a full game release, as well as a free update to players who already own the game.

Ceo of Cyan Inc. Rand miller revealed his gratitude and excitement over being able to bring a game like Obduction to the gaming community:

“We were blown away by the number of fans who queued up at PAX East and SXSW to be among the first to go hands on with Obduction VR hand controls. Reactions ranged from praise to amazement, and it was genuinely touching to talk with generations of families that grew up on Myst and were now excited about Obduction…I’m so lucky to still be making worlds in this incredible time of rapidly advancing technology that enables us to create places with such deep immersion. After 30 years of making worlds, stepping into our creations with the Vive and Rift feels like a magical milestone – very exciting times for a company that is motivated by providing grand adventures that become people’s worlds.”

Obduction is out now via Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, and the Oculus website.
