The Nintendo Switch has officially arrived in markets around the world and if you have yet to pick up a unit, there’s a good chance you’ll have to wait until another shipment arrives. That may not be necessarily a bad thing as the console is only a few days old with reports starting to pop up online of various hardware issues.
These include a wide assortment of issues such as the Joy-Cons failing due to interference, dead pixels, among other problems that have yet to be fully explained by Nintendo at the current moment. However, one major issue to have surfaced online was from a particular gamer who had their console die within an hour after unboxing.
This report came from Reddit where the user notes that the console was making noises during their initial hour of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It was only after a restart of the console did the display show up completely blue, or otherwise known as the blue screen of death.
After reaching out to Nintendo’s support team, the console was labeled as dead where the gamer was forced into going back to the original seller in order to return the unit or send it to Nintendo directly and wait for a replacement. For now, this seems to be the only case to show up online. While we hope this is not an on-going issue for these day-one units, waiting a bit longer before purchasing a console for yourself may allow you enough time to see if any other hardware issues arise.
