Disney has officially announced that two Star Wars theme parks are on the way—one set for Disneyland, and the other for Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger shared the news at the Walt Disney Company Q1 FY17 Earnings call.
Production on both attractions is underway, with the Disneyland theme park slightly ahead of the Florida based park. The Star Wars themed lands will be the largest expansions Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts have seen yet; At each location, guests will be taken to a fantastic new planet with a remote trading port where Star Wars characters live and breathe. Last year, Disney showed off the scale of the attractions, which include a Millennium Falcon guests can board and pilot, before firing its laser cannons and navigating the universe.
It’s a fair wait till 2019, but in the mean time fans can look forward to Pandora – The World of Avatar, set to open this May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
