DRM as in "Death Ray Manta," folks. Not that annoying "feature" that games like to come packed with that don't really deter pirates from doing their thing. The development blog for the site says so right here. Specific date isn't available, but next week for sure. Rob Remakes, the developer, describes it as "pretty pictures and it makes pretty noises." When he really delves into it, he says:
DRM is an attempt at stripping out every last vestige of videogame bullshit and boiling it down to the SHOOT THINGS, FLASH LIGHTS, MAKE NOISES. It’s an attempt at finding the 2 1/2 minute single in a videogame (it lasts more than 2 1/2 minutes, promise). It’s the kill-all-the-fucking-hippies of games.
DRM is not deep. It’s not profound. It’s SHOOT IT, SHOOT IT, SHOOT IT, STRIKE A POSE, PULL SHAPES, DANCE:The Videogame. It starts, stuff happens, it ends. You get a score. It’s bits of all these things and some other things that only exist in my head.
DRM is videogames. Yes, that’s what it is.
I can get behind that ethos. Just a game, nice and simple.
Lord, look at those colors. It's beautiful, isn't it? Bright, cheerful, and hectic. And you're a freaking death ray manta that shoots confetti-like stuff from your, uh, mouth? Looks like schump with all the visual clutter trying to distract you from what you're doing.
Make sure to keep a look out for this one.
