Call of Cthulhu Illustrates Psychological Horrors of Madness With new Trailer

January 19, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Mad world.

From the team that brought us games like Styx: Master of Shadows comes a fusion of stealth mechanics and psychological horror known as Call of Cthulhu. A fresh trailer for the game depicts protagonist Private Detective Edward Pierce descent into madness as he investigates a suspicious death in Boston.

Slowly, reality becomes skewed to the extent that the oppressive atmosphere begins to crush Pierce’s sanity completely. Players are tasked with finding the balance between keeping Pierce’s sanity levels within normal range while exploring the environments for clues that lurk in the shadows. A disturbing truth is ultimately unravelled as the Great Dreamer, Cthulhu, prepares to rise once again.

The ‘Depth of Madness’ trailer showcases the game’s deeply immersive narrative, which leaps from quietly whispered echoes, to abandoned caves, and eerie flashbacks reminiscent of Amnesia.

Call of Cthulhu is scheduled to release in 2017 for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
