Final Fantasy Dimensions Returns to Franchise Roots

August 28, 2012 by Jen Shaffer

iOS exclusive, no love for Android.

Final Fantasy Dimensions is bringing a wave of nostalgia to your smartphone and new details have surfaced about the retro-title through the official site. Square Enix has focused on taking the franchise back to its roots with 2D pixel art, job-driven character paths, and the ever-important tale centering around light, darkness, and crystals.

Square Enix is trying an episodic approach to Dimensions, with the Prologue premiering free, Chapter 1 costing $2.99, and Chapters 2-4 priced at $9.99 each. If you'd like to purchase the whole package, that will set you back $28.99.

Taking a look at the main site, you can see that the Prologue and first Chapter are considerably shorter than the latter half of the title. Each section's story progression is detailed in full, along with the immense amount of characters you will encounter during your journey. There's even a description of the Job System whose return die-hard Final Fantasy fans will celebrate.

Final Fantasy Dimensions will be released on August 31, 2012 to iOS devices.
