Kenji Kaido, producer of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, has officially left Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. The move was announced through his Twitter account, where he also informed his handful of followers that he didn't have any exact destination planned, but was going to enjoy the rest of his summer vacation.
In his tenure at SCEJ, Kaido had a hand in more than just the two iconic Team Ico titles. He was also a designer on the first Ape Escape game, pushing the limits of the DualShock controller and pleasing gamers worldwide.
Just like with any designer that packs up and moves, the gaming community is excited to see where Kaido lands. Although he gave no exact reason for the split between himself and SCEJ, one can only imagine Kaido is interested in moving to a smaller studio in lieu of working for one of the largest developer entities in Japan. As a seasoned veteran, he will probably have his pick of jobs and the chance to work on a variety of new and exciting projects.
