Mafia III has just received a new upgrade that supports 4K gaming on the PS4 Pro.
The update upped the game’s native resolution to 1,440 pixels from the standard 1,080p – but you won’t really see the results unless you are gaming on a PS4 Pro and on 4K output.
New Mafia III Update Supports PS4 Pro and 4K Gaming
If you have a 4K output, you should notice some changes.
That being said, regular PS4 players should still notice a change: Animations should be more crisp and fluid, but you won’t really see much of a difference compared to 4K output since the common resolution cap is at 1,080p.
While the frame rate remains at 30 frames per second, the improvement lies in its stability since the game appears to run more smoothly and is consistent – during more intense scenes the framerate can sometimes drop to 26fps, so the added stability should help these moments.
In December 2016 Mafia III also added more car customization options, this was the official description if you missed it: “First step to your very own custom, cherry-ed out rides: Get over to one of the nine Big Rick’s Garage locations around New Bordeaux. From there, start selecting what kind of Decals, Exhausts, Spoilers, Superchargers and Wheels you want on your car. With this content patch, you’ll have over 50 unique customizations for your fleet.”
