It's hard to argue that shooters are the hottest genre in gaming right now; what with its morphine drip-feeding of leveling up, unlocking stuff and feeling like a bad-ass taking down two to three guys in a single magazine.
Speaking of shooters, there's none bigger than Activision's Call of Duty.
How big of a Call of Duty fan are you? Can you play the game for four straight days? According to CBS, a teenager from Colombus, Ohio, did just that.
15-year old Tyler Rigby was hospitalized due to dehydration after locking himself in his room for four straight days just to play Modern Warfare 3.
Jessie Rawlins, Rigby's mother said he only came out of the bedroom to eat a snack or use the bathroom. She added, “I was very scared. I thought he was going to die…He just fell over three times.”
Rigby's aunt, Jennifer Thompson, states that "It’s like he was looking at me but he wasn’t there. It was like he was looking through me." She also added, "We were talking and I heard a thump and I looked over and he just fell."
Now don't worry, as Tyler is expected to make a full recovery after medics pumped his body full of fluids. However, he won't be playing Call of Duty or any other game anytime soon as his mother has thankfully confiscated his Xbox.
I honestly don't know who to blame in all of this. Is it the teenager's fault for not having the foresight to take a break every few hours to stretch, eat and remember he's a human being? Or is it his mother's fault for not being able to control her son?
What do you think? In cases like this one, who's at fault?
