Critical Path Project Provides Unique Insights Into Game Development

Critical Path is a new project that's being spearheaded by luminaries of the videogame industry, including the likes of Sid Meier, John Carmack, Will Wright, Warren Spector, Tim Schafer, Hideo Kojima, and many more.

The goal of Critical Path is to make known the videogame developers—many of whom are unknown, unlike their counterparts in film and literature—who are responsible for everything you play and enjoy.

In each minute-long episode of Critical Path, we get to listen to a unique perspective from a game designer about a game they've created. For instance, Will Wright talks about The Sims and how players immerse themselves in their avatars.

Will Wright also discusses the connections between play and storytelling and how his team at Maxis created little toy experiences which abstracted real experiences.
