W. Earl Brown is taking on the role of a survivor named Bill in The Last of Us. Not to be confused with another survivor of a very different zombie apocalypse, Bill introduces himself to the game's protagonists Ellie and Joel after the trio barely escape from the infected humans.
Unfortunately for all parties involved, Bill's a little paranoid about getting infected and handcuffs Ellie to a pipe, and holds Joel at gunpoint to inspect him for infections.
With their little misunderstanding cleared up, we discover Joel and Ellie have broken into Bill's house and set off all the traps along the way. It would seem that Bill and Joel go back a ways, and he owes Joel a favor. Joel needs a car to escape the city with Ellie, and Bill's the only one who can provide.
Unfortunately, Bill doesn't have a car, but he's got the knowhow to build one. He sets a plan in motion for Joel and Ellie to recover some car parts around town, which he can then use to put the vehicle together.
You might recall W. Earl Brown from Deadwood. His likeness is almost perfectly reproduced in The Last of Us—giving us just another reason to look forward to the game.
The Last of Us is exclusive to the PlayStation 3.
