Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive have teamed up to develop and publish this RPG with a twist. With the new trailer they just put out, we can see the game’s ready to go out to the public next month.
This isn’t a battle between the good and the bad. In Tyranny, the bad guys have taken over the land and they’ve set up shop as the new leadership. As one of the Overlord’s Fatebenders, you travel to deal with the populace as they try to come to terms with these changes. You’re free to actually be nice to these people, but you can also scare them out of their wits and force their obedience to Kyros the Overlord. But you have a third option of seizing everything for yourself instead, and rebelling against this new world order.
Pre-orders for the game are available, and they come in Commander ($44.99), Archon ($59.99), and Overlord Editions ($79.99). In Commander Edition, you get the base game, some ringtones, and forum icons/avatars to make your online profile look spiffy. Jumping into the Archon Edition nets you all that, plus a detailed digital map, a short story collection, some wallpapers, and the game’s soundtrack. Plus more avatar stuffs. The Overlord Edition gets you a copy of the Collector’s Guide Book, and an art book that shows you all the design materials that go into creating a game like this.
Tyranny comes out November 10th for PC (Mac/Linux). To learn more about the game, check out their Twitter and Facebook.
