It’s been a rather big couple weeks in terms of eSports teams. We reported not long ago the new owners of Dignitas and Apex was revealed to be the professional sports team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Now we’re learning that DJ Steve Aoki has invested and became a partner to the eSports team Rogue.
Steve Aoki has found world fame through being a DJ and EDM producer, but besides music, the artist has a strong passion for video games. Announced through a set during TwitchCon, DJ Steve Aoki had revealed to the masses of his recent investment towards the eSports team Rogue.
After watching the team play Overwatch, Steve Aoki approached the owner in terms of becoming a partner. While no dollar figures were announced, Aoki spoke with ESPN and unveiled his involvement with the team.
Going forward, Steve Aoki will be working in areas of management and brand development, while it seems that the team will still be pursuing competitive video game titles such as Overwatch and Counter-Strike.
We’re interested in seeing how the future shapes up for Rogue, but it seems that Aoki and the eSports team share much of the same interests when it comes to goals.
“As many of my fans know, I’ve been a gamer all my life and have been getting more and more involved in esports. I can finally take my love for gaming to the next level as an owner of Rogue, the professional esports team. As an avid player of Overwatch, their dominance caught my eye and after getting to know them, I realized that we shared the same goals and interests in team building and competition.”
