We’re less than a month away from the release of Civilization VI, which aims to shake up the Civilization strategy game series by speeding up the pacing. Firaxis Games has previewed the content through a series of videos dedicated to showcasing the leaders and factions of the newest game. Next up, they showed off Sumeria and their ruler Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh’s existence was confirmed through inscriptions associated with other characters from the Epic of Gilgamesh, which depicted the feats of strength performed by the dude. The Epic Quest ability means every time a barbarian outpost is captured by you, a tribal village reward is also granted. The War-cart unique unit doesn’t get any penalty vs spearman or other anti-cavalry units, and gets extra movement when starting in open terrain. The Ziggurat unique improvement provides culture and science when adjacent to rivers, with the downside being you can’t build it on a hill. Gilgamesh’s Adventures with Enkidu means they share the spoils of war with allied units that are within 5 tiles away.
Civilization VI arrives on October 21st for PC (Mac/Linux). To stay in the loop about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook. Take a look at the archives here on Gameranx if you want to see the rest of the factions that are planned for the game.
