Halo 4 has a new composer: Neil Davidge. Fans have had reservations of Davidge's work, worried that it wouldn't hold up against Martin O'Donnel's stellar compositions in the first Halo trilogy. The release of Davidge's first piece of music may have put most of those doubts to rest.
Some of his music, which can be heard in the Halo 4 section of Waypoint (an Xbox app), was recorded by TheRtas on YouTube and posted for everyone to listen to. It also includes music from the First Look video.
Some fans may complain about the new soundtrack not being like the music of the original Halo trilogy, but with Halo's transition towards that of mystery, the music by Davidge couldn't be more appropriate.
One fan writes: "I feel like Chief just touched down on Requiem, a massive planet encased in metal and with majestic floating islands. Probably the start to the second or third mission."
I couldn't agree more.
