Blizzard has published a new post on the official Battle.net website. If you’ve been playing on an older account to enjoy some of Blizzard’s latest titles such as Hearthstone and Overwatch, there’s a chance you may be using a dated handle. Thankfully, you now have the chance to change your BattleTag that will better represent yourself.
Much like how Microsoft handles Gamertags for the Xbox Live service, Blizzard will allow gamers a chance to completely change their BattleTag. By changing your BattleTag, all of your users and content will remain safely within your account.
However, this is a limitation as to how this service works. Blizzard revealed that the first change towards your account is completely free. With that said, each change afterward will cost gamers $10. This could be a more than welcomed feature for some gamers who have been actively playing on an older account that holds a regrettable name.
“Every Battle.net user can choose a BattleTag to represent themselves both in-game and on their Friends list. If you change your mind later on, you can change it once for free!
Just because you change your BattleTag doesn’t mean anything else has to change—your friends will be right there waiting for you on your Battle.net Friends list!”
Nevertheless, if you have been playing a Blizzard title that showcases your regrettable BattleTag, you can take up Blizzard’s free BattleTag offer right now.
