Mojang continues to toil and grind on their development of Minecraft. The studio has announced plans to release a modding API for would-be modders to more easily make changes to the game—a task currently difficult for most to accomplish.
To that end, Mojang has enlisted the developers of CraftBukkit, who are now working on an official basis at the company.
In addition to this announcement, Mojang has released the pre-release version of Minecraft 1.2.5 which adds numerous fixes to the game's newly introduced cats, among many other things.
Barring any unforeseen delays, the launcher is expected to carry the latest version of Minecraft on Wednesday, April 4. That's next week. If you're in a hurry to try the new version, you can grab it directly from Mojang's website here.
