The spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment has founded a publisher in Techland. But the game itself is pushed back to a 2017 release date alongside that. It’s been a long way since the game’s initial Kickstarter, but with a publishing deal for the retail version of Torment: Tides of Numenera, at least the game has some sort of guarantee to it’s release.
“I’ve been impressed with Techland and am pleased to be collaborating with them” said inXile Entertainment CEO Brian Fargo. “Bringing a game of such scope and depth to the international market is a major undertaking, and we wanted to be sure we partnered with professionals who knew how to cater to the global community. Techland has been a great partner and their track record has convinced us they are the people we want to have at our side.”
For people not caught up with this game, Torment: Tides of Numenera is set on Earth a billion years in the future. It’s an RPG where you travel across the Ninth world, making morally ambiguous choices that have an effect on the story. The turn based combat is balanced out by a character driven narrative. Over the past few years, inXile has been hard at work making their vision come to life. For all the latest Torment: Tides of Numenera updates, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook places.
