Destiny Rise of Iron Officially Revealed, Exclusive to Next-Gen Consoles

Although the trailer leaked early, Bungie officially revealed the next Destiny expansion in a livestream today. Rise of Iron arrives on Next-Gen consoles September 20th.

RiseOfIronFeaturedHeaderThe trailer for Destiny‘s Rise of Iron reveal may have leaked online early, but that didn’t stop Bungie from doing a formal livestream of the upcoming expansion itself. Over 200,000 people tuned into Bungie’s Twitch channel to see the first look of Destiny: Rise of Iron.

The expansion centers around the collapse of a wall on Old Russia’s border. Fallen Mutants scavenged Golden Age tombs and they’re causing chaos in the wasteland. You’ll join up with Lord Saladin in a trip to the Plaguelands, with the objective of uncovering the mysterious fate of the Iron Lords. Along with the new story missions, you’ll have new armor, gear, and weapons to take with you into the Plaguelands Zone and the new Crucible areas, to take the fight against the new mutated Fallen enemy faction and bosses within. Plus, a new raid at Felwinter Peak, and an increase to your Light level.

RiseOfIronFeatures “We have been working hard with our partners at Bungie and are planning great, new content for Destiny’s 30 million registered players. Rise of Iron is the first step in fulfilling that promise,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg. “There’s a ton of content packed in Rise of Iron, including a new location, a new Raid and a new Strike, combined with more quests, weapons, gear, a competitive multiplayer mode and more that we think players are going to love.”

Preorder today, and you get an exclusive limited edition black and silver Iron Gjallarhorn. But anyone who plays Rise of Iron will be able to acquire their own Gjallarhorn, of course. According to the livestream, there will be a quest where you make your own Gjallarhorn, from the armor and metal of fallen heroes.

RiseofIronIronGjallarhornDestiny: Rise of Iron arrives September 20 on Xbox One and PS4. This is the first time Destiny is making an expansion for next generation consoles only. Bungie’s website, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter are the best places to go to learn more about the game.
