Jez Corden has chimed in on the rumors about Halo and Halo Studios.
In the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Jez said this:
I think someone put out a thing where it was like oh Pierre is going to be running the next Halo. He’s already handpicking his team and all that…
Well I’ve heard that’s absolutely not going to be the case. So, um, Pierre will not be running the next Halo and that’s 100% Activision’s remit.
…But um no, like Pierre and whatever remains of Halo Studios, they’re absolutely not running the next game from what I’ve been told. And um so it’s a blank slate.
Jez also confirmed that Halo Studios is only in charge of maintaining support for existing Halo games, and he’s unsure if that includes new content.
The rumor we reported on was that Pierre was hoping to pitch new Halo games, even if he has to use AI, but they weren’t likely to be approved by XBOX and/or Activision. But now, we wait on Activision to announce what they actually plan to do with Halo.
