XBOX just shared plans to restructure their studios, moving many games and studios under Activision and Bethesda, as well as merging Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios.
Jez Corden shed more light on these plans in Windows Central. Interestingly, he claims they’ve already changed their mind on the layoffs.
As the original plan was to have a cumulative 3,200 layoffs, they actually aren’t committed to that number, which was also an estimate. They’re now attempting to keep jobs as best as possible, partly by moving people across departments, and partly by restructuring.
This change is meaningful for Senua developer Ninja Theory. Matt Booty revealed they failed to divest the studio in two separate instances.
Jez explains the studio has now entered redundancy consultations because of UK laws. His sources say that XBOX is still looking for a buyer, but prospects are dim.
Asha know this will be a PR hit, after she managed to successfully divest four other studios and just scored Kojima Productions’ PHYSINT. She may have to make another tough decision for this situation shortly.
