CD Projekt RED has admitted that they’re under Sony’s mercy when it comes to making a physical edition of The Witcher 4 for PlayStation.
Mikhail Nowakowski, one of two CD Projekt RED CEOs, said this in a recent interview for The Game Business:
We know what PlayStation has announced, yeah? I mean, and we have no influence on the policies of the first parties, to be honest. The discs for the first parties, Like for the, you know, including PlayStation have to be manufactured, you know, in their own factories.
So if they stop manufacturing indeed by 2028, then yes.
Nowakowski went on to say that they’re fans of having tangible collectibles, so they will commit to having a box ‘that’s going to have some feelies in it.’
At this time, it isn’t clear if the game will be releasing on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 6, but there’s a nonzero chance that the studio is only being diplomatic about this in public.
