Black Ops 6 Content Will Not Carry Over To Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

August 26, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s the official statement.

There is plenty of hype surrounding every Call of Duty game that releases, whether you’re a fan of the over-the-top blockbuster-style campaign or the fast-paced multiplayer action. It’s an FPS series that continues to deliver for fans. However, the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 video game won’t release with the intention of bringing over your content from the previous iteration.

That’s right, if you were planning to enjoy Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 with your various skins that you’ve acquired, you’re out of luck. A new change is being introduced in the upcoming installment. Today, the developers are looking to clear the air and explain why some content may not be available in the next major release.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Carry Forward Restrictions

On the official Call of Duty website, the developers have explained that the major reason for this change is for authenticity. Developers want the gameplay experience in Black Ops 7 to feel authentic, as well as the setting they’ve chosen. As a result, none of the Black Ops 6 Operators or Weapon content will be available to carry forward on the new installment.

With that said, they are respecting the time and progression you put into the game. Players should still expect Double XP tokens and GobbleGums to carry over. Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that this change is only applicable to the upcoming Black Ops 7 video game installment. This change-up has nothing to do with the Call of Duty: Warzone game.

Operators, Operator Skins, and Weapons from Black Ops 6 will no longer carry forward into Black Ops 7.

Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7. Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward, because we recognize your time and progression are important.

This change applies only to Black Ops 7. Call of Duty: Warzone is not affected, and all your Black Ops 6 content stays usable there.

Furthermore, the developers would like to emphasize that they are still reviewing feedback. While they craft content to fit the new Black Ops identity, they will continue to review feedback to understand what players want.

This wasn’t the only shred of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 news to come out today. Earlier, we reported on why the developers decided to scrap the idea of having difficulty options. Of course, we won’t have too long to wait before we see how players take up with this installment.

The new Call of Duty title is currently set to launch on November 14, 2025. When the game releases, it will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
