It’s always a curious thing to see what certain collaborations will lead to and how one side will attempt to make “the most use” of the other. In the case of Roblox, they’ve been trying for a long time to get meaningful partners to bring all sorts of content to their universe. They’ve been successful, to be clear, including getting major sports leagues, businesses, and even movies and music labels to partake in the “adventure” that lies within. Google, though, might be its most important partner, especially because of the new partnership they have involving ads. However, that’s not to say that Google doesn’t do anything in the universe.
On the contrary, they have used their “Google Play Points” system to offer gamers special perks if they play Roblox. This year, they’ve gone even further with that by making an exclusive members’ world called “Google Play’s Diamond District” that is live now and will continue until July 2nd. Google even made a special blog about it where they said:
“Inside the Diamond District, you’ll be able to navigate our obstacle course (or obby) with glimmering gems and special portals, play other mini-games and collect weekly drops. Plus, with a course made up of unique modules offering over four billion combinations, you’ll never have the same experience twice. For Diamond, Platinum and Gold members of Play Points, the Diamond District gets even better with access to our exclusive VIP Vault, where you can claim special digital items for your avatar.”
You have to admit, that is a pretty nice perk. Oh, and don’t think you can just “get in” because you already have an account in the universe. You actually have to link your Google Play account to the game to ensure you qualify for this exclusive area.
What’s that? You think this “exclusive area” should have even more to offer those who go into it? Why, it’s funny you should mention that…
“All Play Points members will also have the opportunity to get custom merchandise. Each of these special items — a Google Play x Backbone One controller, a mini fingerboard collectible and limited-edition gift box and portal pins — are directly inspired by the Diamond District and exclusively designed for our Google Play x Roblox partnership.”
It seems Google has covered all its bases on this front and wants to give players as much as they can, which is to be appreciated. Again, the Diamond District is live right now, so don’t miss out on it!
