Half-Life 3 has been the industry’s ongoing punchline. Fans of the Half-Life franchise have waited years to get the ending of this game series. As the years went by, the anticipation died off a bit, with some fans assuming we’ll never get the third chapter to close out the campaign narrative. However, things started to change when Valve dropped Half-Life Alyx.
There have always been rumors and reports of a Half-Life 3 game. Valve has been keeping things quiet on that front, but perhaps they’ve slowly been working through the game. If we do end up getting a third installment, where the story will take players is anyone’s guess. However, a new report suggests that wherever the story might take players, the conclusion will wrap up the entirety of the Half-Life universe.
Thanks to Comicbook.com, we’re finding out that insider DanielRPK on Patreon released a new post. According to their findings, this new upcoming chapter will be the final chapter for the entire franchise. It would seem that Valve is not interested in seeing this IP continue in any capacity after the legendary and elusive Half-Life 3 drops.
It might be good, especially if we get another major cliffhanging ending that will take decades to resolve. Of course, that might still be bitter news if you were hopeful of seeing a resurgence for the franchise with new spin-off games released. Regardless, we can’t say for certain that this is going to happen.
Right now, Valve has yet to announce an official Half-Life 3. However, you can bet that this will be massive news when the official word does come out. So, for now, we can continue to wait, speculate, and listen to insiders share what they have heard about this supposed installment. As other rumors have suggested, production for this game might be farther along than most have thought. If true, perhaps we will get a release sometime this year. At least, we’ll be crossing our fingers that’s the case.
