Job Listing Suggests Motive’s Iron Man Video Game Will Be A Back-To-Basics Action RPG

May 14, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Maybe back to basics is what Marvel’s video games need.

We seem to have picked up some insight on what EA Motive is doing with their Marvel’s Iron Man game.

As shared by OwnEquivalent4108 in the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, EA has a new job listing for a level designer, and they specifically say that it’s for the Iron Man game. The job listing shares these details:

Responsibilities :

  • Design and build major singleplayer levels, within the project’s creative constraints
  • Incorporate feedback from research and playtest data to achieve an excellent singleplayer experience
  • Bring levels through every phase of development from concept to polish
  • Proactively communicate with all stakeholders to ensure a high quality of work
  • Document level design intentions to provide a clear and accessible resource for the team
  • Identify and address potential risks, dependencies & constraints related to level design with other departments while maintaining AAA quality
  • Provide and solicit feedback in a graceful, constructive manner, with suggestions and solutions for improvement to the game editor, processes and project

Qualifications:

You shipped at least one AAA title, have 3+ years experience in level design and:

  • Experience in Singleplayer Action RPG games as a level designer and/or an avid player
  • Familiarity with the Unreal game engine
  • Strong layout and environment creation skills
  • Experience with visual scripting and level design tools
  • Apt at communicating design intentions to the team
  • Work with partners to implement upon a vision
  • Prototype ideas and share those ideas with important partners
  • Comfort and capability in creative and technical design discussions
  • Interest in the environmental aesthetics
  • Break down tasks and work with production to produce estimates and priorities.
  • Work well in a multidisciplinary team, spanning artists, programmers, and designers.

Motive was the studio who worked on the 2023 Dead Space remake, Star Wars Squadrons, and Star Wars Battlefront II. After EA had layoffs last month, some people from Respawn moved into Motive to make Marvel’s Iron Man. We also learned early on that they picked up writer Ashley Cooper from since 2023. Cooper’s gameography includes World War Z, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, Jurassic Park: Survival, and Gotham Knights.

Even now, the public doesn’t have a clear picture on how far Motive has gotten with Marvel’s Iron Man. It’s possible that they are deep in development, and these job openings are about the project properly scaling up and working towards completion. We’re all certainly hopeful that this new batch of upcoming Marvel Super Heroes video games will live up to our expectations.
