With about five weeks or so until the Nintendo Switch 2 arrives worldwide, fans of all ages can expect certain things to happen to help hype up the launch even more. One of the biggest things by far is seeing advertisements for the console. Nintendo won’t take any chances on people not knowing that it’s coming and that it’s an even better version of the original Nintendo Switch. For example, you might recall us writing earlier about an ad here in the United States featuring famed actor Paul Rudd. However, that’s not the only set of ads being put out there.
In Japan, the “media blitz” began as a set of commercials, and physical ads were released and seen by fans. You can see one such physical ad below, which features Mario driving away on his kart while being chased by a giant Goomba.
Then, here are some 30-second commercials that have been airing in Japan to hype up the fun that gamers will get to have on the Switch 2.
There were actually four full commercials about the system that were poste din the country, and that might lead you to wonder, “Why is Nintendo already doing that big of a media overload there?”
The first answer is the obvious one: It’s the systems’ home country. After all, if you’re not going to try and sell your product in big numbers in your own home, then why bother with other countries? The second reason is that the OG Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in Japan’s history. That’s saying something when you think of it, and many Switch games set records for sales in Japan as well. The Big N knows that if it wants to replicate the success of the OG Switch, it needs to not just do well in Japan, it needs to do REALLY well in Japan.
Either way, the Nintendo Switch will likely get more ads like these in the US, Japan, and other key nations going forward. It’s also important to remember that there’s a different kind of “ad” going on right now in various places via the Switch 2 Experience Tour, where gamers and journalists have been able to get their hands on the new system and see what it plays like.
Nintendo will not hold back to try and make the Switch 2’s launch the biggest in video game history, so be on the lookout for more ads like these.
