The middle of March is somehow almost upon us, and that means that certain releases are nearly here. While some of those releases are for full games, other titles, like Mortal Kombat 1, are dropping key pieces of DLC. The NetherRealm Studios title is about to wrap up its Kombat Pack 2 content with the arrival of the T-1000 Terminator. Previously, we got a teaser trailer for the character, but today, we got his full trailer, and he’s just as brutal as you would hope. First and foremost, Robert Patrick does a great job portraying the killing machine once again, giving a cold but powerful line delivery that is equal to what he did in the James Cameron movie, oh so long ago.
Then, once you jump into the combat elements of the character, you’ll see exactly how well he fits into Mortal Kombat 1. For example, his use of liquid metal means that he can turn his body into blades and stab people with ease. Or, if he wants to use it to “get low” for an opportunity to strike or just melt into a puddle and move across the stage, he can do that!
You’ll also notice he sends chunks of himself out to attack others at times and completely melts around opponents for key stabs and strikes. He’ll be hard to take on, so you better bring your A-game. As for his Fatality, he pulls several moves from Terminator history, using his blades to impale people and then completely ripping them apart afterward. On the one hand, that’s gross. On the other hand, it completely fits the game, and people will have fun using that particular Fatality.
The character, alongside Kameo character Madam Bo, will arrive in the game on March 18th, completing the second set of DLC characters. However, what comes next is up in the air.
Ed Boon said in 2024 that the game would have “years” of new content. However, once the “Khaos Reigns” expansion came out, fans weren’t thrilled with what they were getting for the price they were paying for it. As such, many didn’t buy the DLC despite getting the main game, and rumors went flying that the Kombat Pack 2 content would be the final content for the game. Ed Boon has since battled back against that, however, there has been nothing truly official stating a Kombat Pack 3 was coming.
As such, if you do want to truly “complete the game,” you’ll want to enjoy the T-1000, as he might be the “final stop” on this train.
