There’s an interesting new rumor about what Ubisoft is planning on the build up to Siege X’s official reveal later this week.

Ubisoft officially announced Siege X nearly a month ago. But they saved the finer details for a Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase, which is coming up this March 13 on livestream. In the meantime, some leakers have been sharing some advance details about the game, though we don’t know enough if those rumors are legitimate or not. Twitter user fraxiswinning claimed that Siege X will introduce 6v6, and they have a new rumor today.
The official Rainbow Six Siege Twitter account recently shared this reminder:
“Reminder to link your Twitch and Ubisoft accounts for Drops!”
That tweet also came with an image promoting the Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase, and indicating that there will be Twitch Drops for the event. They also shared this link to register for Drops, and how the system works. After you connect your Twitch account to your Ubisoft account, and then your console account, you can just join the Drop events to pick up rewards that will be automatically given to you when you log in.
Fraxiswinning quoted this tweet and made this claim:
“Drops will be for Siege X closed beta keys!”
So fraxiswinning may have ruined the surprise, but if you’re a huge Rainbow Six Siege player, they just revealed how you can get first dibs into Siege X. Now, we don’t know if you’re guaranteed to get in the beta if you win, or how many Drops Ubisoft is planning for the event, or even if you’ll be able to join the beta immediately. It may also ultimately not matter, if Ubisoft opens up the beta to the public in a matter of days. But if you were wondering if you could get an opportunity to get in, that has just appeared for you here.
Ubisoft has every incentive to get Siege X right, to make fans happy with this upgrade or revision that even lapsed players will jump back in. Ubisoft itself is seeing its share of troubles, but those were not enough for them to hesitate in dropping XDefiant. While Rainbow Six Siege itself still has a healthy player base, Ubisoft has correctly recognized that the fans are increasingly unsatisfied with it.
But since their attempt to build something completely new in XDefiant has faltered, maybe Ubisoft is relying on the Rainbow Six Siege brand now to get their live service efforts in order. But of course, it won’t be that long before we find out.
