New Far Cry 7 Leak Reveals Ubisoft Rebooted Its Multiplayer Game

March 4, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

It looks like developers are back to the drawing board.

We are never in any shortage regarding leaks, rumors, and speculation in this industry. Oftentimes, it’s not best to put too much weight on these reports. We’re not dealing with anything official right now. However, a very credible industry insider just let it leak out what he’s learned about the upcoming Far Cry 7 game. If you recall, past reports unveiled that Ubisoft was essentially making two games for this installment. One of those games was just rebooted.

The news comes from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson. This industry insider has a solid track record and a strong following. Taking to the website, Tom unveiled new information about what he’s learned from his sources regarding the upcoming Far Cry game.

Far Cry 7 has yet to be officially revealed, but past reports have showcased some tidbits of information. The big news we learned from these various reports from Tom Henderson is that Far Cry 7 split into two games. We have a separate game coming for the multiplayer component of this upcoming installment. From what we learned in these reports, players would be getting an extraction shooter.

While details are scarce, players are believed to be stranded in Alaska as they fought to stay alive from the weather, wildlife, and enemies scattered about the area. However, now it looks like the game was rebooted entirely. From what was reported, developers expected this as they now find their teams either being tossed back on this project or broken up into other projects like the next Far Cry game campaign.

Of course, now we’re wondering if Ubisoft plans to hold back the main campaign game of this upcoming installment. Likewise, it might be that Ubisoft is treading carefully with its game projects to ensure they are met with a positive reception when they are released. Ubisoft could use a win, so a lot of attention is being paid to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows game. But beyond that, it would leave the pressure on these other Ubisoft teams to get some solid releases into the marketplace.

Again, don’t take this as official news quite yet. We’re still waiting for the announcement of what Far Cry fans will get next.
