They say that history has a way of repeating itself. Whether it does or not depends on the history itself and the various factors that could lead into said repeat. For example, the Super Bowl was last night and while “history threatened to repeat itself,” it was actually smacked around so that a new victor could rise to the occasion. In contrast, the Splatoon 3 Chocolate Splatfest returned to see if history would repeat itself, and despite the efforts of many gamers, the results were indeed the same. White Chocolate won the Splatfest, and we all have to think about what is wrong in our lives once again.
As you’ll see below, White Chocolate won the Splatfest and won it handily! Plus, as another gamer put in the comments of said reveal tweet, the “fallout” was pretty much the same as the last time. White Chocolate won nearly every category, with the only “variations” coming via the new point rules that were instated after the initial Splatfest featuring the chocolate trio came to be. Dark Chocolate won the Pro player vote and got some 2nd place points, while Milk Chocolate got second place in the popularity vote.
Yet, White Chocolate dominated in every other category, and it’s truly shocking that this was yet again the case. When you think about chocolate, you don’t likely think about White Chocolate in your daily life because it’s not the most popular chocolate. It’s not the one you see at the stores in bulk, and it’s not the one you see when popular chefs and cooks are making chocolate confections. It’s something that’s more of a “specialty piece” or something of the like.
Yet, in Splatoon 3, White Chocolate is now king, and there’s no denying it. Seriously, there’s no denying it. It’s won the same Splatfest twice! One time, you can consider a fluke. But twice? Just as important, twice with a dominating score? That’s insane.
Moving on for sanity’s sake, while this Splatfest was fun for some, it also reminded us that these Splatfests are likely to end soon, so the series 4th entry will be revealed soon. The Nintendo Switch 2 is definitely going to have a follow-up due to how the 2nd and 3rd games in the franchise were massive sellers for the OG Switch, especially in Japan. It’s possible we’ll hear about it on the Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, so stay tuned for that!
