Resident Evil Fans Might Have A New Remaster Announcement Coming Soon

February 10, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

An ESRB rating has fans hopeful!

We love Resident Evil over at Gameranx, and we’re always excited to hear what Capcom has cooking up. Unfortunately, the news has been silent. We’re waiting for Capcom to finally address this franchise and alert fans of what will be coming their way next. However, a new ESRB rating was uncovered, which might be a clue to what we’re in store for.

Capcom hasn’t addressed what is coming next, but that hasn’t stopped speculation. We know that the last main new chapter is Resident Evil Village. However, beyond that, there have been remakes where Capcom is going back to redeliver their classic-era installments. The last new remake to hit the marketplace is Resident Evil 4.

So we’re not sure if the next game will continue where Village left off or if we will get another remake. If you recall, last month, some ratings suggested Capcom was potentially looking to release ports or remastered editions of a few installments of this franchise. Thanks to Gamespot, we’re finding out that yet another ESRB rating was discovered for the Xbox Series X/S platform.

That rating was for Resident Evil 5. That game is currently available to play on the latest-generation platforms, but this is through backward compatibility. We might soon get official ports for these games, with fans also speculating that Resident Evil 5 will be remastered and not just a typical port.

The game was a little more action-based if you never played Resident Evil 5. Players would follow Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar in a fictional region of West Africa as they seek to deal with a new bioterrorism concern. While it might have lost some of the iconic survival horror elements the franchise was known for, it was still praised for its co-op gameplay.

Again, we don’t know what is coming next for the franchise. We’ve heard rumors on everything from a Resident Evil Zero remake in production to the next mainline installment. Likewise, even the movies are apparently getting rebooted for this IP. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too much longer before Capcom gives us our first official peek at what’s coming out next!
