Black Ops 6 Has A Problem With Cheaters, Here’s What Activision Is Doing

January 21, 2025 by Andrew McKay

Cheaters have the potential to completely ruin a game. Thankfully measures are being taken to stop them in their tracks.

There is almost nothing worse than cheaters in a game. Especially one as competitive as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Call of Duty has recently battled with cheaters and had to implement new protections in order to preserve the player experience for everyone. One of these improvements is the option to disable cross-play between PC and console users.

As shared by the folks over at Video Games Chronicle. Activision is implementing multiple measures to combat the recent rise of cheaters in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and in Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision stated that these measures are in response to the feedback they’ve received from their player base.

Cheating seems to be especially prevalent in Ranked play, which is also where the stakes are highest. Activision has acknowledged that cheaters severely impact Ranked play but that IP-based bans often do little to solve those issues and only serve to punish innocent players. A core example of this is at universities or gaming facilities. Instead, Activision stated that they are in the process of implementing new and improved detection systems that operate both on the client and server side, a kernel-level driver update and tampering detection system. Finally, as mentioned before, players will be able to disable cross-play between PC and console. The ability to disable cross-play is still in beta but should be ready for Season 2 when it drops on the 28th of January.

These sorts of updates are always welcomed, especially by those who deal with the cheaters most. These updates might not seem all that exciting in the wake of the Season 1 update but Season 2 is just around the corner. Find out more here.
