Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Gets Massive Gameplay Preview

November 11, 2024 by Todd Black

Cue iconic theme music!

There’s been plenty of talk about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle ever since Bethesda and Machine Games officially unveiled it. Without a doubt, one of the biggest concerns about the title is that the game won’t “recreate the wonder” of the original iconic movie trilogy starring Harrison Ford. After all, there have been two more movies in that saga, and they didn’t exactly turn out the best, so why would a game be any different? Anyway, Bethesda and Machine Games are determined to highlight how much fun the game will be, so they went and dropped a massive 14-minute gameplay “deep dive” so that players can know what they’re getting into.

The Indiana Jones and the Great Circle breakdown starts with a recap of events. The game is set between the second and third films, where Indiana Jones is back at his college professor job when he comes across a robbery in progress. A religious relic of seemingly little value is stolen, which makes Dr. Jones wonder why. As he travels across parts of the world, he meets up with Gina, an Italian reporter who is attempting to find her sister. She believes these relics are tied to her somehow, so a reluctant alliance is formed.

Much like in the movie trilogy, Jones finds himself up against the Third Reich, and a specific rival who wants to collect these items to give the power to the Third Reich. The gameplay video shows off numerous new characters that we’ll meet that will help Dr. Jones and Gina throughout their journey, even if some of them seem hesitant to do so at first.

One of the things that the gameplay trailer emphasizes is that adventure is the game’s true focus. That’s part of the reason that it’s entirely in the first-person perspective. You’ll need to carefully look around for clues, solve puzzles, and uncover paths that can help you on your journey or discover secret items that might tease other elements of your quest.

It won’t just be that, though; you’ll need to use various items to help you in combat while also donning disguises to sneak through certain areas so you can gain valuable information.

All in all, you’ll find that Dr. Jones and Gina are in for quite an adventure, and so are you. If this game is everything the developers want it to be, it could harken back to the games of old where Indiana Jones once shined. Watch the gameplay video below to see if you’ll be getting it on December 9th!
