Nintendo Music App Adds Diddy’s Kong Quest OST

November 5, 2024 by Todd Black

A sign of things to come?

Nintendo has a lot going on in its life right now. First and foremost, it’s prepping for the arrival of the Switch 2, and is being as tight-lipped as possible about it. Seriously, it’s not dropping any info about it until it is 100% ready to reveal something. The company is also announcing various releases for 2025 to further highlight how the Switch will have big games right up until the end of its tenure. However, the company is also dropping other things for fans to enjoy, including the recently released Nintendo Music app. This special music player has just gotten its first true update featuring a classic title.

As noted on Twitter, the Nintendo Music app has gotten Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. Oh, and it’s not just one song from it; it’s the entire OST! That’s a huge deal because it highlights how Nintendo will handle things with this app going forward. Many were curious how the company would add songs to the app to make it more expansive, and now we know it’ll add the entire OST to games so that there aren’t any tracks left out, and thus, gamers can enjoy everything at once. They even dropped a QR code in the announcement so that you can go right to the app and play the new music.

Let’s also not forget that one of the app’s key features is creating playlists that feature all of your favorite tracks. So, if there is a song or two, or ten, from this OST that you want to add to your playlist, do that! Plus, it’s fair to think that Nintendo will drop more game soundtracks featuring the Kong family, and when that happens, you’ll likely get the urge to make a playlist featuring tracks from those games. We won’t stop you from doing that. Let’s just hope they get the “DK Rap” on the app soon!

Fun aside, this is a very encouraging update about the app, as it speaks to the nature of future releases. Nintendo dropped this app last week, and they’ve already added an entire OST soundtrack! If they drop a new soundtrack every single week, the app will have plenty of music for you to listen to. In many ways, this is a sign of Nintendo listening to gamers while also coming up with a creative way to expand what it does.

What would you like to see drop into the app next?
