Silent Hill 2 Game Designer Praises Bloober Team For Enhancing This Boss Battle

October 10, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Masahiro Ito comments on a particular battle the Bloober Team did that surpassed the original work put in by Team Silent.

Silent Hill 2 fans were skeptical about Bloober Team handling the remake. Konami was bringing this IP back, and one way of showcasing this franchise to the world is by remaking the most cherished installment. Bloober Team was up for the challenge, with this game being the biggest franchise they had worked on.

Fans mocked the idea initially and were not thrilled with some of the marketing materials released. However, once that game launched, it was clear that Bloober Team hit Silent Hill 2’s remake out of the park. There has been plenty of praise over this remake, and we hope we might see Bloober Team continue with another remake of this iconic survival horror franchise. The team stayed true to the original developer’s ideas and creations. However, they did make some changes that further enhanced the game.

Boss battles, for instance, were tweaked, and Masahiro Ito recently commented on one of them. An X user posted their love for how the Bloober Team handled the Abstract Daddy boss fight, and Masahiro Ito stated that this remake battle was much better than the original installment. That’s all thanks to the incredible work of Bloober Team.

Yeah, the fighting against SH2R Abstract Daddy is much better than the OG one. Thanks to the Bloober team. 🙂
BTW did you guys notice the reddish surface texture of the new A Daddy? https://t.co/99sUkD0QWu

If you’re unfamiliar with Masahiro Ito, this game designer worked on the previous Silent Hill game creature designs. They were also involved with this remake release. Masahiro Ito had also pointed out a slight change to the character design for Abstract Daddy that they were hopeful fans would take notice of. That change was that the creature had a reddish surface texture. This was to point out that the Abstract Daddy symbolizes something. With Silent Hill 2, just about everything has some kind of symbolization for you to dig through.

For those of you who haven’t picked up a copy yet, Silent Hill 2 is readily available for players to enjoy now. Players can pick up a copy for PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. Additionally, the Bloober Team recently posted a dev diary that gave some insights into the creation of James Sunderland. You can find out more about the creation process of this leading protagonist character right here.
