Sea of Stars Devs Working on Game’s Co-Op Mode, Story DLC

July 17, 2024 by Carley Garcia

No release date has been announced yet, however.

The team behind the hit turn-based retro RPG Sea of Stars is still hard at work on the title’s upcoming story DLC and unique co-op mode announced earlier this year. In a new X post, the dev team confirms that “production on the DLC is going well,” promising that more details will be revealed soon.

In March, the dev team announced that a three-player couch co-op mode, dubbed Single Player+, was being added to the game to celebrate five million players.

Combat will also be upgraded in Single Player+, with players needing to get used to a new ‘co-op timed hits’ mechanic.

In Sea of Stars, players control Valere and Zale, Solstice Warriors who utilize the power of the sun and moon to fight a god-like alchemist called the Fleshmancer. They are joined on their quest by Garl, a warrior-cook and childhood friend, Seraï, an assassin, B’st, a golem, and Resh’an, an immortal alchemist.

Sea of Stars is currently available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game was released in 2023 after a delay to prioritize the development team’s health and to ensure that the title was completed to the company’s high standards.

The game won Best Indie Game at the 2023 Golden Joystick Awards and Best Independent Game at The Game Awards 2023. The game is free for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers. It’s also available on PlayStation Plus’ Extra and Premium membership tiers.
