Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Give More Details About Upcoming Patch

July 16, 2024 by Carley Garcia

This patch will be huge–and it isn’t the last one, either.

In a new Community Update made to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Steam page, the dev team details what fans can expect from Patch 7 coming this September. Along with the previously announced addition of full mod support, the update will also add a dynamic split-screen mode, something many players are eager to see implemented.

“When playing in co-op, you’ll now have the option to have split screens merge into a single screen when you are near one another. You can access this directly from the HUD and within the game settings, both in and out of combat,” the post reads.

Patch 7 will also add new cinematics for players treading a more evil patch, making the game’s finale more intense.

“From avatar Origin characters, including the Dark Urge, to the multiple different pathways that you can take as your own player character, each new cinematic is yours to discover through nefarious means,” the devs write.

Origin characters will also get some bug fixes, specifically things like “clipping issues, a couple of broken triggers for quests, dialogues, and romances, the odd case of retrograde amnesia, and persistent exclamation marks.”

The impact that Baldur’s Gate 3 has had on the gaming scene over the last year can’t be understated. Nominated for dozens of awards, it didn’t only snag Game of the Year at the BAFTAs, but also at the Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards, the D.I.C.E. Awards, and the Game Developers Choice Awards.

Despite the game’s incredible success, Larian Studios has announced that it is working on a new project next rather than Baldur’s Gate 4.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available to play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
