Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Benchmark Tool Available to Download

Ahead of the release of the Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix has released a handy-dandy free benchmark tool for players to test whether their setup can handle 7.0’s improved visuals. The new update will improve textures, hair, grass, shadows, and reflections, and will be the title’s first graphical upgrade since it was released in 2013.

Square Enix also released a benchmark tool ahead of the release of Endwalker in 2021. Due to the new graphical enhancements, Square Enix notes that players using the same PC specs can expect their score to be around “20 percent lower” this time around.

When preorders opened for Dawntrail late last month, excited fans crashed the Square Enix store instantly. As with past releases, preordering the new expansion will reward players with neat bonus items, including a pair of earrings that boost XP and a Final Fantasy IX minion.

Currently, a Final Fantasy XVI crossover is happening in the MMO, allowing players to snag Clive’s outfit, a Torgal pup minion, and a Torgal mount.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The MMO was fully released on Xbox Series X/S on March 21.

Dawntrail will be released on July 2, though players preordering the expansion will be able to play a few days early on June 28. The long-awaited release will bring with it a level cap boost from 90 to 100, a new playable race, two new DPS classes, new cities, new dungeons and raids, a new limited job, and an entirely new story arc.
