Florida Joker Is Dropping Rockstar Games Lawsuit Threats But He’s Got Demands

February 9, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Lawrence Sullivan wants to voice his character.

Grand Theft Auto VI is easily one of the more anticipated games in the marketplace. However, in the eyes of Lawrence Sullivan, so much attention is being paid to this game because of him. If you don’t recognize the name, Lawrence is better dubbed as the Florida Joker, a man with a variety of tattoos on their face and colorful hair. When Rockstar Games finally released their first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI to the public, one character had a striking resemblance to Lawrence, which sparked a series of demands from the individual.

In the past, we’ve seen the Florida Joker make demands to be compensated for using his likeness. This escalated to threats of lawsuits against the development studio. However, those lawsuit threats have been struck down as Lawrence is more interested in coming into the development studio to offer their voice to the character. This comes from a recent Tiktok video release, which Insider Gaming reported. Of course, we don’t know just how much this character within the game actually shows up within the campaign. In the trailer showcase that came out in December of last year, we only saw this individual briefly in a compilation of characters in the game.

It could very well be a one-off shot that doesn’t get much more than a quick highlight in the game. But Lawrence hopes that this character has a storyline that he will fully voice. From there, the Florida Joker would be interested in attending various conventions to sign and take photos with fans. They even noted that they should be paid to voice the character of up to $100,000. Beyond that, Lawrence pointed out that this game is getting so much hype because of him.

For now, it doesn’t look like Rockstar Games has made any statements or reached out to the individual. Instead, production should end next year as that’s the intended launch year for Grand Theft Auto VI. That’s still the plan right now, according to the CEO of Take-Two, who mentioned that there are financial incentives to ensure this game doesn’t become stuck in development for too much longer. There are even some within the industry that are eager to see Grand Theft Auto VI release. If you didn’t catch the recent reports, Ubisoft’s CEO spoke of how massive games like Grand Theft Auto VI are good for other development studios. This is because there is such a big draw for this game that it caused some players to look at other recent game launches that are coming out into the marketplace.
