The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Getting Special “Game Nights” Webseries

February 6, 2024 by Todd Black

Let’s dive deeper!

If you somehow haven’t heard by now, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is out on PS5, and it’s getting plenty of people talking. First, they’re talking about how good the game looks on PS5 and how, like a certain “remake,” this is the “definitive version” of the game. But between the people at Sony and Naughty Dog, they want to go even deeper than that. They’ve been doing various documentaries and shows about the game and its universe to highlight just how grand the title is and what it took to make the game. For example, we learned that the ending with Ellie and Abby almost went an entirely different way. We also heard that the game was originally going to be far more open-world and that they changed this due to the story and how they felt the gameplay and narrative “didn’t mesh.”

But if you want even MORE insight into The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, then you need only check out the upcoming “Game Nights” miniseries. In it, the Raiders of the Lost Podcast team will bring in special guests every week to highlight the game, its narrative, and the many characters who have helped make it such an iconic title. You can check out the trailer for the series below:

This is certainly an interesting idea that could lead to some fun insights that even the team hasn’t discussed before. Plus, these won’t necessarily be those associated with the game in significant ways, so it’ll feel like a more “common man’s” version of how they feel about it.

There’s little doubt that the sequel, even with its controversies, had a big impact on the gaming world. The darker turns that the sequel took with Ellie and Joel and the introduction of characters like Abby definitely stirred things within the community. That alone proves that Naughty Dog did something right by going in this direction.

Plus, with the success of the live-action show on HBO, gamers are curious how the various events of the sequel will be played out on the silver screen. Season 2 is about to start filming, and it won’t cover the full events of the second title, so a third season is likely. We do know they’ve cast certain characters already, including Abby and her friends, so we’ll need to be on the lookout for that.

Also, Naughty Dog says there are potentially more stories to tell, so you never know what might happen next.
