Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Remake Expected 2025/2026

January 31, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

A new report offers a potential launch window.

There’s no shortage of exciting upcoming games set to launch into the marketplace. Fans have been waiting for a good while for some of these releases projected to be released this year. But then there are some games we’re still waiting on a launch date. One of those games that fans have waited a good while to hear details about is Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell remake. After years of teases, Ubisoft finally unveiled that a remake of the very first game was in the works. That announcement came in 2021; we’re still awaiting new details on the project.

We don’t know very much about this remake other than that it’s set around the first game. Just what changes would be made or how close to the source material Ubisoft plans to keep is a mystery. But as mentioned, it was unveiled in 2021 that the game was in the works. Then, it was in 2022 that we got some of the first concept images of the game, which again showed that work was being done on the title. From the look of things, it seemed as if Ubisoft was going to take its time and deliver a solid stealth-focused gameplay experience. But now a new report from Insider Gaming gives a potential launch window.

During a piece highlighting some of the current morale issues Ubisoft developers are facing, it was mentioned that Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell would be launching within 2025 or 2026. That means we might go through this entire year without any new insight into the game. Furthermore, the article covered some poor morale issues within the company after speaking with sources. There’s even the fear that Ubisoft could be the next major company to unveil a restructuring resulting in mass layoffs. If that ends up being the case, it could push this remake back even further.

Of course, Ubisoft is no stranger to delays, as we’ve seen several of their titles get pushed back. After all, how many times did we have to sit and watch Skull and Bones consistently get pushed back in development? Then, much like how Insider Gaming reported, we’re still left waiting on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which has been in development hell for ages. So Ubisoft will be a company to watch throughout this year to see if any additional layoffs happen within the company.
