Point-and-click adventure game Goetia, which casts players as a ghost, is available for PC now through Steam, Green Man Gaming, the Humble Store, and the Square Enix Store.
Goetia was developed by Sushee and is the first game published through Square Enix Collective initiative, which aims to curate and highlight indie titles and support them while offering the developer full publishing rights and control.
Set in England during the 1940s, the game is set in the mysterious Blackwood Manor and you take on the spectral role of one Abigail Blackwood who’s been raised from the dead. With no explanation for what’s happened, Abigail must search for answers to questions including the fate of her family, why she’s back, and what’s happened since her death.
The game allows you to explore bout the manor and the surrounding countryside as you unearth clues and solve various puzzles. There’s said to be more than 90 rooms available to investigate, multiple ways to uncover the mystery, and “some unexpected… and unnerving discoveries along the way.”
Goetia’s official description reads, “Abigail Blackwood has risen from the dead, and she has no idea why. It’s been 40 years since her death, and her home – Blackwood Manor – lies deserted, with no trace of her family. What happened? Why has she returned? And what has her family been up to during that time…?”
Phil Elliott, creator and project lead for Square Enix Collective, added “We love the depth and atmosphere of Goetia, and we’re really proud that the game is the first in a range of releases to come via Collective this year.”
