Sony Launches PlayStation Essential Picks Sale This Week

October 25, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

So, Sony has already launched their Halloween Sale last week, but maybe you aren’t quite in the market for Halloween and horror themed games. Sony isn’t letting gamers like you behind, as they have a new sale coming up promising a lot of big games and a lot of value.

This week on the PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed their Essential Picks sale. The sale launches today, October 25, 2023, and runs way past Halloween, until November 17, 2023. It will feature both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 sales.

The theme for this sale are ‘essential’ titles, AKA quite a few major games and names that are definitely worth the price, but now, you can get them for a huge discount. Essential Picks are on sale for as much as 75 %. We’ll run down some of the games they had named below.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! Digital Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is a spinoff in the Yakuza/ Ryu Ga Gotoku/ Like A Dragon Series. This is an ideal purchase for newcomers who are curious about the Yakuza/ Ryu Ga Gotoku/ Like A Dragon games, but don’t want to worry about not knowing several games’ worth of backstory.

The game is set in the Late Edo period, where samurai and shoguns still thrive, but Japan is at the cusp of change with the arrival of Western ships. The lead character Sakamoto Ryoma is based on a real historical figure, an advocate of democracy and enemy of the Tokugawa Shogunate. In Like a Dragon: Ishin!, however, he and other real life figures have been recast as Kazuma Kiryu, and other members of the Like a Dragon franchise. This one takes some liberties with the historical details for a fun experience that takes you back to Japanese feudal times.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 5 is Respawn’s latest critical and commercial hit, and the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It features Cal Kestis’ continuing fight against the Empire, five years after the events of the first game. This game was renowned as one of the most critically acclaimed games of the year, but was held back with some serious launch bugs and performance issues.

Gotham Knights: Deluxe for PlayStation 5 is WB Games Montreal’s ambitious open world cooperative game. While this game did not get as much critical acclaim, WB Games did patch it as best as they can. It also happens to be in PlayStation Plus, so if you have given it a try and decided you liked it well enough, here’s your chance to own it for cheap.
