Silent Hill fans have waited for what felt like an eternity to get their hands on another game. Konami, for a long time, had put this IP into dormancy. The last big push to see a video game released came from Hideo Kojima, where he assembled a team to work on a new project for the franchise. That project, dubbed Silent Hills, was eventually scrapped when Kojima split from Konami. Fortunately, it wasn’t too long ago that Konami revealed that they were reviving this IP in a major way. Several video games are in the works, including a remake for one of the biggest installments of the IP, Silent Hill 2.
Easily, one of the biggest Silent Hill titles for the franchise is Silent Hill 2. It’s been a staple video game for the survival horror genre and is often credited as an inspiration for several survival horror games released today. So the fact that we’re getting a complete remake is equal parts exciting as it’s worrisome. Veteran fans obviously are concerned that the game won’t live up to the expectations that they have placed for a title they cherished. However, players who wanted to dive into the game but were put off by its age and visuals might now have a chance to see why so many fans enjoyed this installment when it initially launched.
Unfortunately, we haven’t seen too much of the game since it was first revealed. We know that the Bloober Team is working on the project. If you’re unfamiliar with the studio, this is the team that brought out games like Layers of Fear, The Medium, and Observer. So, this would be a significant release from the studio and might further showcase their talents to a broader audience. However, we might now have a hint on where we could see Silent Hill 2’s remake pop up again.
Thanks to a Reddit post, we’re finding out that the Steam page for Silent Hill 2 has a banner showcasing the Tokyo Game Show that will happen this month. It’s noted that there’s only one other game from Konami that has this banner, which is a Yu-Gi-Oh title. That has some fans expecting that we might see some kind of a trailer reveal during the event, but we’ll have to wait and see if this is the case or not. Fans are undoubtedly hopeful as we’re still waiting for a release date announcement of the game. That said, we know that Silent Hill 2 is set to release for the PC and PlayStation 5 when it eventually launches.
