Starfield Leaker Reportedly Gets Booked With Felony Charges

August 25, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Don’t anticipate any more leaks from this individual.

Starfield is easily one of the most anticipated video game titles launching this year. After years of waiting for this game and finding Bethesda being taken in under the Xbox umbrella, we’re just now a couple of weeks away from getting our hands on the game. But while this game has become such a massively anticipated title, it’s unfortunate for the team that spent years of their time and effort to see their project get leaked online. In fact, one leaker was proven to be quite a problem for Bethesda and the Microsoft company.

A series of leaks were surfacing online, and it might have set some alarm bells off for the teams behind the project. This individual, according to Kotaku Darin Harris, was sharing this content online for his followers to view. But this person did a bit more than just leak the gameplay footage out for fans. Instead, it’s reported that Darin was selling copies of the game early. How he came across these copies and the collector’s editions is not certain. But the social media footage apparently released from the leaker showed copies of the game being sold and shipped out to the buyer.

According to a Kotaku report, this leaker has been picked up and booked on a felony charge. With the various charges placed, it’s already been reported that the various social media posts and YouTube videos were deleted from the account. This might have left some fans a bit disappointed that the footage for the game will dry up from this source, but it’s not likely that you’ll see a complete stop from leaks surfacing online. After all, quite a few individuals have managed to get copies of the game ahead of its official launch into the marketplace.

Bethesda offered these games to those for reviews and impressions. With a lengthy RPG that would ask players to spend quite a few hours going through, it’s likely their motive was to ensure these individuals and media outlets would have enough time to go through the game. Of course, we just reported on how Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, had spent over 200 hours with Starfield creating different builds without actually completing the campaign.

Meanwhile, Starfield is set to launch on September 6, 2023 for the rest of us. When the game does release, you’ll find it available for the PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. However, since this is also a first-party Microsoft title, the game is available through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
