Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Accessibility Features Includes Slowing Down Gameplay

August 15, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Insomniac Games looks to give an experience without barriers.

Marvel’s Spider-Man was incredibly popular, and it even sparked a spin-off installment with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Insomniac Games is looking to keep this success trend with its next major release. We know Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming, and that has quite a few fans eager to jump into this next action-packed chapter featuring Peter Parker and Miles Morales. However, we’re also learning that this game will have several accessibility features to ensure that more players are able to enjoy this game with ease.

Thanks to a report from GamesRadar, we’re finding out that Insomniac Games has updated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 page on the official PlayStation website. This update adds more insight into the accessibility options that will be available within the game. While we might have to wait for the game to release in order for a more comprehensive breakdown of all the features that this game includes, there are some available now to make note of. According to the website, Insomniac Games have made a range of new and in-depth accessibility features to give players Marvel’s Spider-Man experience without barriers.

It’s noted that the developers are building on the accessibility options that were featured in the previous games. Meanwhile, there were three points highlighted so far that players can expect. For instance, audio options will include a screen reader that will read out all the on-screen text in menus. Captions also will be available to provide audio descriptions, including cinematic scenes featured within the game.

However, another aspect that will help get players through the game is slowing down the gameplay action. It’s noted that you can slow down the gameplay to 70%, 50%, or 30%. According to the website, it’s said that players will be able to switch back to regular speed at any time. That might make some of the more chaotic gameplay moments a bit easier to manage.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will bring back some of our favorite characters as they deal with two new enemies. We know this installment will feature Venom and Kraven the Hunter, giving Peter and Miles a real challenge as they attempt to keep New York safe. We don’t have too long of a wait now before we can get our hands on the game. Currently, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on October 20, 2023. When the game does release, you can expect it on the PlayStation 5. In the meantime, you can check out a game trailer for the upcoming title down below.
